The waiting is finally over. We are about to find out if the International Stadiums Poker Tour (ISPT) and Dusk till Dawn (DTD) can operate a successful tournament inside Wembley Stadium, and the early prognosis is good.
It’s not until you stand in the center of this amazing stadium that you realize the magnitude of this event. The logistics of hosting a poker tournament in a place of this size is just mind-boggling. There is not a single poker player on the planet that would not want to be involved in this tournament if they were able to witness this in the flesh.
There are two main areas where the poker action will take place. The piece de resistance is the center of the pitch itself. There are six domes protecting 108-tables from the treacherous British weather, which at the moment is holding off well. The domes are gigantic and they are each named after a famous footballer: Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Beckham, Cantona and Zidane. Then there is a further 108-tables in an atrium called ‘The Bobby Moore’ room, which overlooks the stadium itself.
We caught up with one of the players who have been heavily involved in the marketing of the event, Erich Kollman, to get his views in the build up to this amazing poker competition.
