Pamela Anderson has become the face of BamPoker, a new online poker community where players can not only enjoy the thrills of casual poker play with peeps from all over the world, but also get a chance to play against the former Baywatch hottie.
Really, poker with Pamela Anderson? Where do we sign up?
BamPoker is the brainchild of Canadian entrepreneurs Elton Pereira and Jeremy Nichele. Sensing a need to bring an added jolt to the world of online social poker, the duo decided to create a poker Facebook App that espouses all the great characteristics of the game in a fun and exciting environment. “We are committed to providing a fun, social and interactive gaming experience through quality game design,” BamPoker co-founder and CEO Elton Pereira said in a press release.
According to Pereira, BamPoker’s set-up centers on casual and tournament-style Texas Hold’em poker where players are challenged to gain chips and experience points that allows them to enter higher-stakes games, all while striving to attain a VIP Badge, a privilege that allows them to enter the game’s exclusive VIP tables. It’s not like getting keys to a real VIP room, but it’s certainly worth the effort of trying to get in.
Anderson’s involvement is more than just being BamPoker’s proverbial eye candy, although for men who spent their formative years watching her save drowning victims with her floaters, you certainly wouldn’t mind if that was the case.
But Anderson has clout in the poker world because she’s a fan of the game and more importantly, she’s a hell of a player herself. As BamPoker’s spokesperson and official consultant, Anderson brings a lot to the table, none more important than her name and reputation as an international celebrity and self-professed poker aficionado.
“When I first met Elton and Jeremy, I knew they were on to something special,” says Pam. “They weren’t interested in creating just another game — they wanted to take the social elements of online poker in a bold new direction. There is nothing like BamPoker out there today, and I am excited to be a part of such an innovative platform!”
We’ll take your word for it, Pam. And maybe you can play on a table with us soon.
