As part of the deal, president and founder of EE Johnson Research, Eugene Johnson – who has worked in gaming for nearly 30 years – will take on the additional title of Senior Vice President, Market Research and Online Studies.
In his career, Johnson has served casinos and a wide range of other industries and has previously worked with Spectrum on various projects over recent years, including the 2008 Atlantic City Visitor Profile Study.
The acquirement will see Spectrum, who is also a founding member of Global i-Gaming Advisors (GiGA), acquire Johnson’s substantial client list, which includes gaming operators such as Delaware Park, Dover Downs, Finger Lakes Gaming, Horseshoe Gaming, Indiana Live, Saratoga Gaming and Raceway, and Twin River, online operators including 888 and Party Poker, as well as gaming suppliers such as Bally Technologies and Spielo.
In a statement by the company, iSpectrum Managing Director, Michael Pollock, said: “Gene will play a critical role in Spectrum’s future as an advisor to governments and private clients seeking opportunities in online gaming, as well as in market research.”
Spectrum and its sister company, Spectrum OSO Asia, serve a growing list of government agencies and private clients through offices in Atlantic City, Bangkok, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Las Vegas, Macau, Miami and Tokyo.
Johnson commented: “I am proud to be joining the premier consultancy in the field of gaming, regulation, and analysis and look forward to working with a great group of professionals in an exciting and rapidly evolving industry.”
In other business news, GigaMedia – the Asian online gaming provider – has announced its board of directors has elected John Stringer as its new chief executive officer.
The new appointment comes after the departure of Yichin Lee, who has resigned as an officer and a director to return to his own professional services business.
Stringer is a veteran technology executive with 25 years of senior leadership experience and an exceptional track record of driving strong growth and profitability in many global companies.
In a press release, GigaMedia Chairman Michael Ding, said: “We are thrilled to have John take the helm of GigaMedia,” stated. “He has a wealth of experience in revitalizing technology firms, developing new strategies and launching new products. He is a dynamic, insightful leader renowned for driving successful turnarounds and growth.”
Stringer’s appointment as CEO and a director is effective immediately – so he is now, as we speak, working like a beaver in position at GigaMedia’s Taipei headquarters!
