British Poker Awards nominees announced; Paddy Power launches Iron Man promotion

british poker awardsNominees for the second annual British Poker Awards have been announced and this year promises to blow 2010 out of the water. The ceremony takes place on the final night of the annual Poker in the Park festival, this from 2nd to 3rd September in London’s Hanover Square.

The nominees, across a number of categories have been chosen by representatives from Bluff Europe and PokerNews, with help from the “voice of poker” Jesse May. Editor of Bluff Europe, Philip Conneller said, “This isn’t about self-congratulatory back-slapping. It’s about honouring the players who have done us so proud on the world stage this year. It’s about applauding the bloggers and social media users who have kept us entertained through a challenging year in poker, and it’s about praising the poker leagues that tirelessly support the game on a grassroots level in the pubs and clubs of Great Britain.”

Such has been the success of British players over the past year or so and competition will be fiercer than ever. One of the most hotly anticipated awards will be the editor’s choice of Player of the Year as well as the best tournament player, where Jake Cody, Sam Trickett, Robert Romanello, John Earnes and Chris Moorman will battle it out. Staying with poker, Paddy Power Poker is launching an Iron Man promotion. Those of you familiar with the world of online poker will probably be wondering where you’ve heard that before – and you’d be right. Full Tilt ran a similarly named promotion in the past and the cheeky little Irishman is looking to capitalize. Running from 1st August it will five players the opportunity to win freeroll tickets or cash bonuses by reaching certain thresholds.
