UK poker news: UKIPT Brighton concludes; London Poker Championship begins

UKIPT

UKIPTPoker’s eyes are quite rightly trained on Las Vegas right now for the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event. The rest of the world has shown it isn’t in a self-imposed coma state as the latest leg on the UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) came to a conclusion this weekend. Chris O’Donnell took down the record field of 603 in Brighton and with it a cool £71,100.

After creeping around for the first part of the final, O’Donnell started to emerge at the business end right when it mattered. Heading into the final four, he took the chip lead and was imperiously impressive for the final hands. Second place went to Richard Hasancebi (£41,300) whereas Jeff Duvall took third and £25,300. The top placed player not from the UK was next up as Rudi Johnsen of Norway took home £18,600.

Staying in the UK, today marked the start of 2011’s London Poker Championship. Taking place at the centre of the iGaming universe it features seven different events and calls London’s Grosvenor Victoria Casino its home.
