After a day discussing the intricacies of Black Friday and what it means for the North American iGaming industry, there’s only one place that GiGSE delegates wanted to end up – the bar.
The venue for this year’s Official GiGSE party was Swig Bar right in the heart of San Francisco in the city’s Union Square. For those hardy souls in the need of a release from the conference drag you could have arrived at the venue at 1pm. We’re not sure whether anyone did but would it be any surprise in the iGaming industry?!
Set over two levels, the bar was awash with iGaming personalities who were in town for the conference and able to take advantage of the free drink deals on offer from the outset. 100 people packed the open-air venue and were treated to a display from a live drummer accompanied by Samba performers dressed in Vegas style feathered “follies” outfits.
The bar remained crowded all evening as attendees aimed to use every penny of the $3,000 bar tab that was laid on. At one point Mark Walker from Clarion Gaming was also on hand to hand out a tray of Sambuca shots so that everyone’s breath smelt aniseed-fresh.
The tab lasted long after midnight and there will be a number of bleary-eyed attendees at the last day of GiGSE today. There are still a number of pertinent issues to be discussed. The venue’s washrooms might be where many find their greatest solace today though.
