GTECH Corporation and the French National Lottery operator FDJ have come to terms on a ten-year contract extension. The agreement marks an extension of an already long lasting relationship that has seen GTECH as the provider of lottery products and services to FDJ since 2000.
Under the terms of the new agreement, GTECH will provide 500 Gemini Compact instant ticket vending machines and related services to FDJ, scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2011. GTECH will also provide FDJ with technical support.
GTECH president and CEO Jaymin B Patel said in the release, “We continue to listen to our customers and develop products that will more closely address the needs and requirements of the ever-changing market and lottery industry…FDJ will be the first lottery to introduce the Gemini Compact into the marketplace, offering many benefits for FDJ’s retailers and players.”
Concerning their new product, Patel said it was a team effort, “We worked very closely with FDJ to design an ITVM that will succeed in the field. The new machines have a smaller footprint in retail establishments. They will also feature our new single-burster ticket delivery system, which will greatly improve the reliability and availability of these self-service vending machines.”
According to GTECH, Compared to the Instant to Go, the Gemini Compact has a smaller footprint design that can house up to 12 instant games creating a secure and streamlined lottery transaction.
