Chris Christie Veto

Chris Christie VetoIs there still hope for the New Jersey gambling bill? There’s enough optimism from proponents, but is it foolhardy? Considering most of the people in the Garden State would shoot down a vote if it came down to it, and Governor Christie would never support something that might jeopardize his political career, I have to agree with J Todd, it doesn’t exactly look like New Jersey will be paving the way for online gambling in the US.

As the regulation push continues in the US, across the pond there’s some movement in the opposite direction. Cyprus announced a new online gambling law banning everything but online lottery and sportsbetting.

If that doesn’t make your head spin, then give Slots.com a whirl. The site is now open for business and is looking for feedback on the gaming experience while they are still in beta testing.

This week’s episode of Perspectives Weekly concludes with an interesting and very informative interview with Harrah’s Entertainment at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas 2010. It’s a great interview that takes a inside look at the future of the gaming industry, and discusses issues like online gambling presence versus brick and mortar gaming presences. Jan Jones, the senior Vice President of Communications and Government relations for Harrah’s, breaks it down.
