If a vegetarian ate meat they could eat their heart outs at Rogers Cable’s new delicious channel. Beginning February 28th, Rogers Cable will be showcasing a chicken channel for Rogers digital subscribers in the Canadian province of Ontario. I’m not talking about chickens that cluck, I’m talking about chickens turning on a spit, 24/7 on a channel called the Rotisserie Channel.
The Globe and Mail reported that “It’s part of a Swiss Chalet marketing initiative that takes product placement to extremes. The campaign also includes TV and online ads that will tie in with the channel, and a promotion for it on Rogers’ default guide channel, which appears when subscribers turn on their sets.”
Rogers is the same company that showcases a fireplace channel during the winter months, and this chicken channel is their latest in mood setting channels.
So when is an online gambling company going to get their own channel in Canada? Certain provinces in the country already have regulated online gambling sites, is a channel that far off? Imagine the advertising revenue from other gaming sites or lottery providers wanting a piece of the action…It could also be a like a media guide to battle misinformation.
It could be a channel that viewers must subscribe to and these days, with the cable controls, it could easily be a channel that requires parental access codes to keep under-aged viewers out. Online gambling companies could provide analysis and odds from anything from political campaigns, elections, sports competitions of all kinds, and even a celebrity gossip segment, showcasing celebrity and entertainment odds. The channel could feature reality television and the odds for members of American Idol, Survivor, Celebrity Apprentice, the list could be as endless as the offerings of every sportsbook combined.
It’s a channel bettors would both watch and subscribe to in Canada. It could also be used to cover poker. It’s no secret now that mainstream media repeatedly references the online gaming industry on a number of topics, why don’t we get our own gig?
