FIFA recently awarded the 2018 and 2022 rights to hold the World Cup to Russia and Qatar respectively. Many people were shocked at this considering the two venues chosen were among the most highest risk among the candidates. But shocking, is what FIFA is all about, just taking a look at some of their rankings is proof of that. So we asked the question, “What do you think about the World Cup Announcements?” Here’s the results.
With a majority of the votes, 56 percent voted the response, “FIFA is corrupt”. Hey, they said it.
In second place, 21 percent felt that Russia was actually a good choice. Russia will also be playing host to the World in 2014 for the Winter Olympics, which should be a fairly good test of their hospitality.
8 percent felt that both Russia and Qatar were good choices, and 7 percent couldn’t be mores disgusted, feeling that both were poor choices.
Considering the World Cup is one of the biggest events in the world to gamble on, and considering the copius amounts of partying, drinking and carrying on that most people like to engage in during the World Cup, not sure that the strict Islamic code of Qatar is the most accomodating destination. Especially for the gang of groupies and WAGs most teams like bring along for moral support.
