Predicting the Champions League would be a snore fest is obviously a sure-fire way to make an evening’s viewing a lot more exciting. Either that or it’s just Spurs up to their usual tricks away from home in the competition. For the fourth time this season they managed to concede a bucket load of goals while at the same time scoring a load themselves. Following them round Europe really wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Think of it this way – so far this season you could have partied in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, and Holland. At the same time, you’d have been safe in the knowledge that the football would be very exciting. Tottenham’s three goals even included one of those comical occasions that the keeper receives a back pass and performs an air kick.
Elsewhere, Man Utd were lucky to finish top of their group, midfielder Anderson equalizing Pablo Hernandez’s earlier effort that had broken United’s clean sheet record. It means both English sides will miss the big guns of Real Madrid and Barcelona making it ever more important that Arsenal win their group tonight. Otherwise, a match-up against either of those two is a real possibility.
William Hill now offer 5/1 that two Premier League clubs will contest the Champions League final, 8/11 that just one will make the Final and 13/8 that there will be no Premier League sides in May’s showpiece. Hopefully it’ll be Spurs, and the score will be 7-7.
