If you’re an online gaming company, you can’t be part of their exclusive club unless you’ve had a comical TV advertising campaign. The last few years has seen Paddy Power, bet365, Ladbrokes, Betfair, and even William Hill decide that the time was right to launch very often cheese-ridden advertising campaigns. Richard Branson, the pioneering entrepreneur behind the Virgin group of companies, has now seen fit for his casino brand to enter this part of the market.
The ad, which Virgin Casino don’t give the impression will be humorous, will attempt to reinforce their position as the number one online slots provider in the UK. Lasting 20 seconds, and costing £500,000, it has a space theme and introduces players to a number of their games including Cleopatra and Monopoly Multiplier.
Oliver Wilson, Casino Acquisition Manager, commented: “We had such a fantastic response from our first Virgin Bingo ad launched last year that we decided that this was the right way to go for Virgin Casino. Bingo received a 100 per cent increase in player registrations on the back of the first adverts aired late last year and this evidence suggests it makes absolute sense for TV to play a significant part in the marketing mix for the casino product.”
Anyone wanting to see the ad, it premiered last night on ITV and Channel 4. It will run for two weeks but sadly won’t include a cameo from Branson himself.
