Spurs’ first foray into the Champions League was, well…Spurs. The Londoners went 3-0 down inside the first 28 minutes and it was only thanks to a Sebastian Bassong header, and a wonderful late strike from Roman Pavyluchenko that they came away from the game with anything like a chance in the second leg.
Of course it was all down to the pitch being artificial, if you listen to Harry Redknapp that is, but one thing’s clear: Tottenham lost to a bunch of kids. It really was boys against boys stuff but Spurs have escaped with a chance after the early schooling of the first half. Read more.
