ESPN has already endured a serious amount of scorn for Thursday’s hour-long Decision snoozefest in which NBA titan Lebron James announced that he was joining the Miami Heat. Part of the problem was the fawning, slow-pitch-over-the-plate questions interviewer Jim Gray — the guy who busted Pete Rose on live TV all those years ago — served up over the course of the program. Now it’s come out that Gray was not hired by ESPN, but by Lebron’s people. Makes you wonder if they scripted Gray’s whole stilted line of inquiry, or if Miami got a second Lebron for placing their order within the next 10 minutes. Read more.
