Japanese TV puts sumo on a diet after gambling scandal

Okay… So some sumo wrestlers placed bets on baseball games. Give ‘em a fine, tell ’em they were naughty boys and they shouldn’t do it again. Hell, in an extreme case, keep ‘em out of the Sumo Hall of Fame (if such a thing exists) like America did to Pete Rose. But they do things differently in Japan, where public broadcaster NHK is pondering dropping an upcoming sumo tournament from its broadcast schedule as a disciplinary measure.
