England’s all too predictable World Cup humiliation at the hands of Germany may have depressed a nation but, like the nation’s undertakers, the UK’s bookmakers are rubbing their hands at the Three Lions’ latest sob story. The 4-1 thrashing has spared Coral a £50m pay-out, although even the bookies, who are already offering odds on Fabio Capello’s replacement, would have rather England stayed out in South Africa for at least another match or two.
