Nicolas Anelka sent home from World Cup

When he was a moody teenager at Arsenal he was known as the Incredible Sulk; he never smiled and pulled a strop long enough to force a move to Real Madrid, where he was suspended for 45 days without pay for refusing to train and shipped back to Paris like a foster child with behavioural issues. A decade on and l’enfant terrible of French football has been sent home again – this time from France’s dismal World Cup campaign – for calling coach Raymond Domenech a “son of a whore”. Nicolas Anelka is a good player but insubordination is unacceptable. You can’t call Domenech a son of a whore. That’s plain wrong. He’s merely a clueless buffoon. Read more.
