Chinese gambling crackdown claims £700m, 3600 arrests

Our friends in the East weren’t joking when they said they were planning to crack down on gambling during the World Cup. Since the tournament began on Friday, the Chinese authorities have arrested more than 3,600 suspects and confiscated over £700 million. If they had any sense they would legalise betting, make a ton more money and actually enjoy the tournament like the rest of us. I blame it on the segways – they look like a lot of fun. Read more.
