East coast casinos luring Asian gamblers away from Atlantic City

A while back we told you about how Maryland was trying to capitalize on the fact that Asian-American gamblers, while representing just 6.5% of the area’s population, accounted for as much as a quarter of local casino revenues. Now casinos in Delaware, Pennsylvania and West Virginia are getting into the act, hiring directors of Asian-American player development, tailoring menu/buffet choices to suit Asian tastes and offering table games such as baccarat and Pai Gow. All of which means even more bad news for Atlantic City, who expect to see far fewer shuttle buses full of Asian gamblers pulling up to the casino doors.
