Matt Dillon’s ‘Takers’ first movie on box office futures market

U.S. federal regulators approved the proposed contracts for the so-called ‘popcorn predictions market’ on Monday by a vote of 3-2. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission gave the Trend Exchange movie box office futures market the go-ahead despite vehement opposition from the Motion Picture Association of America and major film studios. Appropriately enough, the first film on whose box office the exchange will take bets will be Takers, starring Matt Dillon. Considering Matty hasn’t really been the sole driver of a box office hit since, well, ever, we’re saying take the ‘under’ on this wager. Read more.
