The Belgian Gaming Commission (BGC) has started a “sanction procedure” against Betway “because of the cumulative license and the lack of transparency.” BGC spokesperson Marjolein De Paepe said the regulator’s findings will be shared with “the public prosecutor, the anti-money laundering unit, and the Special Tax Inspectorate.” The probe on Betway began in 2017 after its name floated in the Panama Papers. BGC expressed alarm over the lack of hard information regarding Betway’s ownership and the source of its capital.
