Voters of Missouri will decide if they want to legalize riverboat casinos on the Osage River as only Missouri and Mississippi currently allow riverboat gambling operations.

The Story
Currently, riverboat gambling operations are only allowed on the Missouri and Mississippi rivers, but that could be changing soon if a Missouri House bill to change the state’s constitution passes. State representative Rocky Miller (R-Lake Ozark) proposed a bill in late January for an amended version of the House Joint Resolution Bill 87 to allow voters of Missouri to decide if they want to legalize riverboat casinos on the Osage River. Should the bill pass, it would be then voted upon as a referendum by Missouri residents in November and is expected to add $55 million dollars in tax revenue to the state each year and add over 700 new jobs.
