GES LatAm Calvin

GES LatAmThe final day of the 2011 Gaming Executive Summit Latin America kicked off with quite a few sore heads. The delegates were still reeling from have too much fun at the Codere cocktail party, the night before. Still, a brutal hangover wasn’t enough to keep some the top gaming executives away from continuing the discussion about the potential and pitfalls of the Latin American gaming market.

GES LatAm conference day two started with regulators for Peru and Chile offering the delegates some perspective on their respective markets. They gave way to Panamanian Junta de Control de Juego, Giselle Brea who gave the delegates insight as to how Panama survived the global financial crisis while keeping casino revenues high. Brea also talked up their casino expansion plans for Panama.

Maximiliano de Muro, Founder of Mediterranean Gaming, Ian Price from Wagerlogic and Herman Behr, Founder and CEO of E-Management gave a panel discussion on the real potential of the Latin American gaming market.

This was by far the liveliest debate of the day but the key talking point was that operators should keep an open mind to the Latin American gaming market. The potential is there, now it’s a matter of tapping it.

The areas of focus for gaming conference day 2 was the Argentinean market, sports betting, bingo, poker and the day closed with a talk about payment processing.

With the close of a very successful Gaming Executive Summit, the key point organizers want to stress is that the Latin American gaming market has huge potential over the next few years. With the GES LatAm being an annual event, it should speed along that potential. Now it’s just a matter of who will capitalize on it.
