The Brewers, picking up a close win over the Pirates yesterday, took advantage of both the Cubs and Cardinals losing and gained a game back in their playoff race. We’ll take a look at their chances once again, and otherwise turn our eye to a few Wild Card contenders, as we take a look at the odds once again care of Bovada.
San Diego (-1.5 EVEN RL, -157 ML) visits Seattle (+1.5 -120 RL, +137 ML), still clinging to their wild card hopes. They have their best chance to stay in it when Joey Lucchesi (7-6, 4.23 ERA) faces rookie Yusei Kikuchi (4-8, 5.49 ERA), as the Mariners continue to go through their entire farm system to find a combination that might salvage their year. Go with the Padres for everything here, with the over (O/U 9.5).
Philadelphia (+1.5 -160 RL, +122 ML) visits Arizona (-1.5 +140 RL, -142 ML) as both teams battle for one of the NLs coveted Wild Card spots. The Phillies are fighting off so many teams, and depend on Jason Vargas (6-5, 3.93 ERA) to keep them in the lead, while the D-Backs send Zac Gallen (1-3, 2.72 ERA). This should be a fantastic pitchers duel, but I like Arizona for the money line, with the under, purely due to the home town edge (O/U 9.0).
Finally, the Mets (-1.5 -110 RL, -200 ML) are red hot, winning 13 of their last 15 games and they play host to Miami (+1.5 -110 RL, +170ML), and hope to gain some ground on Philly. Steven Matz (6-7, 4.60 ERA) gets the honor against Jordan Yamamoto (4-2, 3.94 ERA) who will try to turn the Marlins fortunes around after a terrible losing streak. Based on their recent starts here, I’m expecting Yamamoto to get blown up, so take the Mets and the over to continue their hot streak (O/U 8.5).
