Organizers of the 2017 Aussie Millions Poker Championships have announced their tour dates; once again partnered with PokerStars on their Main Event and promised more than 20 gold rings.
The 2016 Aussie Millions Poker Championships hasn’t even ended and tournament organizers are keeping the excitement rolling by announcing the dates for the 2017 feast of fun.
2017 will be an important year for the Aussie Millions as they celebrate their 20th birthday. The event will once again be held at the Crown Melbourne. The festival will operate Jan 11 – 30.
The Aussie Millions will continue their partnership with PokerStars for the third consecutive year. The Main Event will continue to be a part of the PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT). The Main Event dates are Jan 22-29. The full schedule of events is secret for now, but organizers told the press that there would be more than 20 gold rings to slip onto the fingers of some amazing players.
2016 Aussie Millions Round Up
There are 24-gold ring events up for grabs in the 2016 Aussie Millions Poker Championships.
At the time of writing, 13 of them have been dished out.
The biggest winner thus far has been Chance Kornuth. The American won the A$25,000 Challenge for A$790,560. The story of the event thus far has to be the remarkable achievement of Chris Soyza who managed to defend his Accumulator title, wading through fields in excess of 600+ strong for two consecutive years.
Most recent winners include Brendan Rubie winning Event #10: A$1,650 No-Limit Hold’em (NLHE) Bounty contest. Rubie defeated 349 players and a final table that included Billy Argyros to capture the first prize of A$116,680.
Alex Lee won Event #13: A$1,150 Terminator event. Lee topped a field of 316 players, including a final table housing Samantha Abernathy, en route to his A$39,000 first prize.
Minh Nguyen came out on top of a field of 96 players to win Event #14: A$1,150 Australian Poker Hall of Fame event. Nguyen picked up A$24,950 for the win. The final table included Gary Benson (8th) and Jack Salter (9th).
Mohammed Afouini took the gold ring in Event #15: A$1,150 NLHE/Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO). The event drew 135 entrants. Afiouni picked up A$35,985 for the win after beating Australian Poker Hall of Famer Joe Hachem’s son Daniel in heads-up action. Dominik Nitsche finished seventh.
And finally, the final table of the A$100,000 Challenge has been set. 41 entrants created a total prize pool of A$4m. Ben “Ben86” Tollerene leads the final six players. The final will conclude on Saturday 30 Jan. The winner will pocket A$1.4m.
