The European Poker Tour (EPT) stops at both London and Berlin still await, but that hasn’t stopped PokerStars from releasing its schedule for the Grand Final. After it’s Season 7 switch to the Casino Gran Madrid, Spain, the Grand Final returns to Monte Carlo for the second consecutive year, and this year there is a little surprise in store for the players.
PokerStars have announced that it will host their very own EPT-run cash games, for the very first time, when the Season 9 finale takes place at the Monte-Carlo®Casino between May 6-15.
“There will be a variety of cash games at the EPT Grand Final and we are sure this will appeal to players of all levels. We are particularly pleased that we will be able to offer these games with a very attractive rake level, and we are expecting this event to become the biggest cash game festival in Europe.” Said EPT President Edgar Stuchly.
There was a quick response from the players, in particular, Gus Hansen who is a high stakes cash game player and Full Tilt Poker Professional living in Monaco, “It’s great that the EPT will be running cash games for the first time this year. I’m looking forward to some exciting action at the tables.”
The EPT Grand Final is the pinnacle of the European Poker calendar with fifty-events spanning a seven-day spin. The highlights of last season’s extravaganza included Mohsin ‘ChicagoCards1’ Charania taking down the Main Event for €1,350,000 after defeating the emerging Lucille Cailly in heads-up action. The final table action was streamed live across the world, and for the first time we saw the intricacies of a players deal, as Charania and Cailly negotiated live on the stream for all to see and hear. The Grand Final also saw the eventual Global Poker Index (GPI) Player of the Year, Dan Smith, set off on an amazing run that would see him bag three €5,000 side events, in the space of four days, to amass earnings in excess of €500,000.
The main highlights of the Season 9 Grand Final include a €25,500 High Roller Event, €100,000 Super High Roller Event and €10,300 Turbo Six-Max High Roller Event and a €2,150 Open Face Chinese Poker Event.
The event will be broadcast on the EPTLive Webcast with poker fans being able to choose the tables from the early stages of the tournaments through votes cast on Twitter.
