The online casino world has just been squeezed that little bit tighter with the arrival of the Hippodrome Casino. Operated by the Betway Group, and powered by Microgaming. The Hippodrome Casino now offers Roulette, Blackjack, Slots and Video Poker in its new online environment.
The iconic Hippodrome Casino in the heart of Leicester Square is a hive of activity at present. Ever since the developer and bingo hall entrepreneur, Simon Thomas, spent £30 million to return the establishment back to the look of its early 1900s glory, the brand has gone from strength to strength.
At the back end of 2012 The Hippodrome announced their relationship with PokerStars. The worlds largest online poker room had agreed a deal to open, and manage, a custom-built poker room that would be called PokerStars LIVE. The venue would host high profile events such as the United Kingdom and Ireland (UKIPT) Poker Tour, and offer a series of 24-hr cash games and tournaments. With over 50 million eyeballs now paying attention The Hippodrome was about to go poker crazy.
Then in February 2013, Simon Thomas and his team won the ‘Best Land-based Casino of the Year’ award at the 2013 Totally Gaming Awards, where it beat off competition from Europe including casinos in Austria, Italy, Holland, Slovakia and the Grosvenor G Casino here in Didsbury.
It is believed that online poker will also offered on the new site, in the same way that Dusk Till Dawn (DTD) manages to merge both live and online environments into its business model. With the PokerStars connection it is thought that the online poker will run through them.
“We have put a huge amount of effort into creating a true synergy between the clubhouse and our online offer, including the breadth of gaming available and the look and feel of the site. We have even incorporated photography of the Hippodrome itself so players can recognize rooms and locations throughout the venue.” Said Online Director George Constantinou.
