Even though there’s a new princess in the royal family that is adored by so many, the memory of Princess Diana still lives on, and in fact, it still makes money and still draws a crowd.
Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut will be showcasing an exhibit called “Diana, A Celebration” beginning this weekend, through Jan. 15, 2012. The exhibit is in Connecticut as part of a multi-year world tour which will raise money for charities on every foreign stop.
A year after the Diana was killed, the Althorp Estate opened the Diana exhibition. To date, more than 1 million people have viewed the exhibit there, generating about $2 million for charity through the Princess of Wales Memorial Fund.
The galleries are devoted to Diana’s childhood and formative years, the royal wedding at St. Paul’s Cathedral, her public life, and her charitable works on behalf of AIDS research, the homeless and the eradication of landmines.
Naturally, Foxwoods will be hoping that the exhibit draws more tourists to the casino to see the iconic princess and of course, to gamble when they’re finished with the exhibit. After being hit by Irene, this exhibit should do well to improve the season’s numbers.
Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut will now have to start looking over their shoulder in the casino business as it appears that Massachusetts is ready to take back the gamblers they’ve been losing by enacting their own gambling expansion bill.
