The Asia-Pacific Lottery Association (APLA) Regional Conference will be on October 10-14, 2011 in Penang, Malaysia. The conference hotel selected for this year is the 5-star Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa under the Shangri-La Hotel Group.
APLA is the Asia Pacific Lottery Association. It is one of five regional associations of the World Lottery Association (WLA). APLA represents 25 lotteries from 10 countries in the Asia Pacific region. APLA is a forum to cultivate and strengthen communications for the benefit of sharing information and experience within the worldwide lottery industry.
This year’s theme is “Keeping Up with Social Media Technologies, Responsible Gaming, GREEN and New Initiatives”. The topics were carefully selected to give the delegates an update as well as an opportunity to learn from the experts in these fields. They decided on a range of current topics and not just focus on one to meet the many needs of their members.
Delegates will be shown new initiatives from IBM and CISCO whereby IBM will share on their Smarter Planet strategies and CISCO on their Unified Communication strategies. These strategies are implemented to bring the communities closer together and the delegates can then start thinking of new ideas how to strategize their business to take advantage of these new technologies.
The Keynote Speaker of the APLA Regional Conference is Kevin Flood, CEO of Gameinlane Inc. Other speakers include:
June Roache, Chief Executive Officer of SA Lotteries.
Suzanne Soo, Marketing Manager for Magnum 4D Berhad.
Todd McLeay, Chief Executive for NZ Lotteries.
Teo Chew Hoon, Executive Vice President, Commercial and Roads, SMRT Corporation.
Jean Jørgensen, Executive Director of the World Lottery Association.
