MLB odds: Red Sox in despair after being swept by Rays

I think we all learned some important lessons on Thursday. The Cardinals are going to beat the Cubs at home, the Red Sox look doomed heading into the final stretch, and you can always count on the Padres to let another team make history by beating them. Friday is setting up another big weekend of baseball though, as the Sox look to rebound against the Yankees, and a couple of games to take us into the wee-hours of the night. Let’s look again at the odds thanks to Bovada.

MLB odds: Red Sox in despair after being swept by RaysNew York (-1.5 +150 RL, -126 ML) will host the Red Sox(+1.5 -170 RL, +106), who just got swept by the Rays. That series crushed the Red Sox, with Xander Bogaerts calling it “the most disappointing losses of the season.” James Paxton (5-6, 4.72 ERA) starts for the Yankees, opposite Eduardo Rodriguez (13-4, 4.13 ERA). I expect the Red Sox to be on a slide now, and Paxton to rebound from his previous horrible start, so go with New York for everything, plus the over (O/U 10.5).

Next, the Nationals (+1.5 -155 RL, +120 ML) visit Arizona (-1.5 +135 RL, -140 ML). Robbie Ray (9-7, 3.91 ERA) is the new team ace of the D-Backs after they traded away Zach Greinke. He faces Joe Ross (0-3, 9.85 ERA) who has a lot to prove, and a lot of ERA to lower, if he wants to keep a role as a started with the Nats. The line favors Arizona for a reason, and I think that reason rhymes with Ho Boss. I pick them and the over here (O/U 9.5).

Finally, the Padres (+1.5 -130 RL, +142 ML) go for game two against the Dodgers (-1.5 +110 RL, -164 ML). Dustin May makes his debut in The Show, bringing a 2.30 ERA from Triple-A ball. He faces Eric Lauer (5-8, 4.52 ERA), who’s on a bit of a losing streak, but has actually done pretty well against Los Angeles. I like them with the under here(O/U 8.5).
