Out of luck? Gambling companies turn to skill-based games to tempt millenials

The online gambling industry has a serious millenial problem. Despite impressive growth in recent years, gambling participation in the UK among 16-24-year-olds is at 35%, down from 51% in 2014, according to data from the UK Gambling Commission.

Out of luck? Gambling companies turn to skill-based games to tempt millenialsInstead of casino favourites like roulette, millenials are more likely found playing games of skill, whether that be Fortnite of social gaming classics like Candy Crush.

With online gambling operators looking to the future in an ever more consolidated industry, could a new breed of skill-based gambling games bring millenials back to the table?

Michal Palecek, CEO of skill-based games developer Chopsticks in the Apps, is available for interview on the subject.

Michal, can you please tell us what exactly you are doing and who you are?

Sure. Chopsticks In The Apps is a new company based in Czech Republic. As the only company in the world we are creating casino versions of popular games like Angry Birds and provide online casinos with such games. As a player, you are playing the game, not just looking. You are playing classic Angry Birds in fact and can win money in it.

Why you decided to start this business?

You know what, youngsters are pretty bored with current traditional casino content like slots and roulette, and casinos are solving problem what games will be played in next few years when the Young grow and the Elderly are gone. That’s why even world-known casinos welcome this idea and are willing to give us a shot and will launch our games.

What exactly is going on on the field of young casino players’ behaviour at the moment and why do they like you?

Players are excited by playing slots as they feel adrenalin but they also know they are being robbed whenever casino wants. In our games, players feel their control over the game perfectly, which they love. What is more, our games are created in a way that even bad players can be winning and very often and a lot. We did not want to create games in which only best players are winning – that’s why we are not doing esports. We are also trying to be creating really funny games so that players can laugh and feel adrenalin from money wagers at the same time.

Do you think it is possible there will be only your games in casinos in 10 years and not any traditional current content?

Honestly we do not have ambitions to replace slots games on casino floors completely, we think this kind of product has its tradition and will be there forever. What we are trying to achieve is to offer new kind of product in casinos and appeal and hope some of current players will like it and will be playing both slots and us. We would like to also attract new target groups of players to casinos that would not come there without our games for example players of the casual games and so on. So the answer is “probably not” but we might change the casino floor layout, which would be a casino industry revolution.

The games will be available in UK, right?

Yes, there is one big online casino in UK where we are launching this summer. At the moment, players can play our games at Wild Crypto online casino and Islands Lotto traditional casino.

What can we expect from Chopsticks In The Apps in near future?

You will see also original branded very popular titles crafted by Chopsticks In The Apps very soon. We are also preparing our ICO later this year.
