Lee Davy brings you up to date with updates from the World Series of Poker Main Event as nine players battle it out for the title of poker’s Champion of the World and $8m in prize money.
Qui Nguyen opens to 1,300,000 from middle position, and Jerry Wong makes the call in the big blind. The flop is [Ad] [3d] [2c]; Wong checks, Nguyen bets 1,750,000, and Wong moves all-in. Nguyen folds.
Wong – 15,950,000 (27 bb)
Nguyen – 80,300,000 (134 bb)
Then in Hand #60 we see Vojtech Ruzicka open to 1,825,000 from early position. The action folds around to Gordon Vayo who three-bets to 5,100,000 from the button. The small blind folds, and Wong, who is sitting in the big blind, four-bets to 8,500,000. Ruzicka isn’t messing about. He five-bets to 13,500,000, Vayo folds, and Wong makes the call and is all-in.
Showdown
Ruzicka: [Qd] [Qh]
Wong: [Jh] [Js]
Ruzicka has Wong dominated as an 82% favourite to win the hand and eliminate our second player at this final table.
The dealer puts [9c] [8c] [6s] onto the flop; Ruzicka maintains his lead. The turn is the [4h] and only two Jacks will save Wong from elimination. The river is the [Qc] to hand Ruzicka a set, and Wong leaves in eighth place earning $100,076 more than he left Las Vegas with in the summer.
