PokerStars Italy now owns 2.58% of the country’s online gambling market according to reports produced by the Italian news site Agenzia Giornalistica sul Mercato del Gioco; Neymar Jr. utilised to market Spin & Go product.
PokerStars dominance of the Italian online poker market is unquestionable. The decision to extend that enterprise to include online casino games is slowly bearing fruit.
The world’a largest online poker room has a 70% stranglehold on the Italian online poker industry. In May, it added online casino games to that product suite. Data collected from the Italian gambling regulator Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (AAMS), and sifted by Italian news outlet Agenzia Giornalistica sul Mercato del Gioco (AGIMEG), shows that at the end of 2015 the Amaya owned gambling outfit had grown to possess a 2.58% market share in the Italian online gambling industry overall.
More green shoots of growth than earth shuddered steps. However, the new market share is greater than that of established operators Bet365, Betsson and People’s Network. Lottomatica is the market leader with 14.66%, Sisal takes 9.69%, and William Hill possesses 8.28%.
With a sports betting and daily fantasy sports (DFS) product yet to be released. PokerStars presence is likely to grow even stronger during the next 12-months. The Italian online gambling industry is ring-fenced; meaning only Italian based customers are allowed to compete.
Neymar Jr Stars in PokerStars Italy Spin & Go Promotion
He may not be old enough to show his lovely mug on UK-based PokerStars advertising, but the Italians are welcoming him with open arms.
PokerStars Team SportsStar, and Brazilian and Barcelona star, Neymar Jr., is being used as the figurehead of a new Spin & Go promotion directed at the 70% of online poker players currently using PokerStars as their platform.
A special “Neymar Jr Edition” Spin and Go series is currently underway in Italy. It ends Feb 7. Players can win a €500,000 jackpot by competing in special €0.20, €2 and €25 tournaments. They are running alongside the 10,000x first prize €1, €5 and €10 tournaments. Fellow Team PokerStars SportsStars, Cristiano Ronaldo, is currently spearheading the .com promotion. The top prize in that one is a cool million dollars.
Both Ronaldo and Neymar were shortlisted for the coveted FIFA Ballon d’Or in 2015. Unfortunately, the duo came second and third respectively. Barcelona forward Lionel Messi, won a record fourth title, stopping a run of two consecutive wins in 2013 & 2014 from Portuguese star Ronaldo.
