Poker lent its hand to another charity this weekend with over $75,000 being raised. Taking place at the JW Marriott in the heart of Los Angeles yesterday, “All in for Tim” was a charity poker tournament organized by el presidente and CEO of AEG Tim Leiweke. The main beneficiary of the staggering amount raised was the charity “Echoes of Hope”.

Bodog.net sponsored the tournament and the players that turned up were truly impressed with the unique Bodog experience. At the end of the day’s proceedings, it was an abecedarian of the game of poker. Mark Owens, walked out of the venue with his head held high. On the way to victory, he was even tasked with taking down the LA Kings mascot Bailey. If you take into account that he’s a part of the royal family, you realize that it’s no easy task.

As for the charity the tournament was supporting, it was set up by former professional ice hockey player Luc Robitaille and his wife to assist those affected by the Gulf Coast environmental disasters back in 2005. It’s an outgrowth of Shadows of Serenity and designed to help at-risk young people that were affected by the horrific events. They specifically focus on the lives of individuals with the drive and motivation to succeed.

To date, they’ve organized a number of events to benefit those in the Gulf region and help the young people through a coordinated program of education. For more information on the charity click through this link.
