WSOP.fr, the online poker domain of Caesars Entertainment Corporation has received approval to operate in France from the French regulatory body, ARJEL, and has been awarded a license to do so. This was really more of a formality, this has been anticipated for some time.
Previously known as Harrah’s Entertainment, Caesars Entertainment will now be able to launch their WSOP.fr domain into the French market and offer the latest product information and news concerning WSOP to their French subscribers.
Caesars is making a play to be one of the biggest players in the newly regulated French market by aligning with Lucien Barrière Hôtels & Casinos and BarrierePoker.fr for both land-based and online poker events throughout the country. This will allow Caesars the ability to truly tap into the French market in a very effective and meaningful way.
Under the terms of this alliance, the World Series of Poker Europe is moving from London to Cannes in 2011 and will be rebranded as World Series of Poker Europe and will be presented by BarierePoker.fr.
The agreement will also see the pair launch the Barriere Poker Tour from April, which will be a series of seven land-based events taking in Toulouse, Nice, Lille, Dinard, Enghien, Trouville and Bordeaux offering players the chance to win cash prizes and a seat at the main event in Cannes.
