New Jersey to hold referendum on sports, web betting

Given that New Jersey legislators, Atlantic City casinos, horse racing industry bigwigs and sports league commissioners can’t seem to agree on the issue of legalizing both sports wagering and online betting, someone’s had the bright idea of asking Joe & Jane Q. Public what they think. (Really? In a democracy? Go figure…) The question of whether to amend the state constitution to expand betting options would be put to voters on this November’s mid-term election ballots, none of which will matter in the least unless the Federal government’s ban on such activities is repealed, but hey… Like they say, it’s an honor just to be nominated.
