The chairman of World Snooker Barry Hearn has come to the rescue of the Wembley Masters by calling on his extensive contact list and plucking out a sponsor from the world of poker.
Hearn, who also runs Matchroom Sports, which is a company heavily involved in televised poker, has persuaded none other than PokerStars to sponsor the event, which was due to get under way on Sunday without a backer. Read more.
