Excessive internet use and problem gambling are unrelated, says study

Bad news for the gambling naysayers. You know, the religious types who without any evidence whatsoever claim that gambling is the “crack cocaine” of the masses or that playing video games for two hours is the equivalent to doing a line of blow or that spending too long online makes you steal your Dad’s credit card details and spend his lifetime’s savings on bingo. It turns out that a new study – for this is how to establish facts, people – conducted amongst Australian university students has found that there is no overlap between excessive Internet use and problem gambling.
