There will probably be a lot of Canadian hockey fans who will see a lot of symbolism in the underdog Montreal Canadiens’ record-setting upset of the #1 seed Washington Capitals. The fact that Montreal’s team is named for the country and the Caps hail from the seat of U.S. political power will prompt lots of talk above the 49th parallel about how ‘it’s our game’ and all that, but what most people don’t realize it that there are more Canadian-born players on the Caps than on the Canadiens. So, um, way to shit on these poor Canucks’ Stanley Cup dreams, Habs. Nevertheless, it means bigger TV ratings and bigger bets being laid north of the border. Read more.
