No one was happy when Apple recently announced that any application offered through its App Store must be built using the company’s own iOS coding. Previously, a number of sites had
RSI, which is behind the playsugarhouse.com sports- and casino-gambling website, announced via a press release over the weekend that it has come up with a solution that will allow Apple users to gamble in Pennsylvania with their iOS devices. The capability is apparently as simple as downloading a geolocation-detecting app available on the App Store that will “enable RSI to confirm that players are located within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania when they access PlaySugarHouse.com through their mobile browsers, such as Safari or Google Chrome.”
RSI President Richard Schwartz adds, “As we launch our casino site today, we are excited to offer Apple users a way to enjoy the innovative experiences we offer by betting from their mobile devices in Pennsylvania. We’re pleased that players with Apple mobile devices will be able to use the mobile web to play with PlaySugarHouse.com.”
After logging into their playsugarhouse.com account, Apple users will receive a prompt to download the geolocation app. When installed, the player only needs to open the app, click through the configuration, reportedly only two additional steps, and allow the app to access the player’s location when using the gambling website. After going through the process, the gamblers can play on playsugarhouse.com from mobile platforms without any interruptions.
Since the announcement was just made this weekend, Apple hasn’t had time to respond and come up with yet another angle to keep gambling apps out of its store. However, it will most likely look for a way to do so this week.
