Yep, that’s right – the Krafty pair were told by the committee that the town is unwilling to host any form of casino.
A report by 90.9wbur tells how Selectboard Chairman, Lawrence Harrington, found keeping the crowd of nearly 700 restrained was “challenging”. Residents from Foxborough and nearby towns had their say, including Michelle Paluzzi, who said: “I know with the casino there is a promise of excessive amounts of money coming into town, but I have to say there is no amount of money worth accepting when it’s no longer a town you want to live.”
However, some in the crowd have not made up their minds, like Mike Salzman who would welcome more information from the developers. “All the things I am hearing – they’re all emotional issues that can’t be quantified there are too many facts that are missing,” she said.
Others who didn’t need to think about it, like union carpenter and Foxborough resident Paul Vey, who voiced his support of such a development. “I am out of work and am desperately looking for work. Me and my family are not living in the Foxborough dream,” Vey said.
According to the report, the meeting went on into the night and eventually saw the board vote the proposal down. Will that stop Kraft and Wynn? Doubt it. It’s alleged they are hoping to present a formal proposal to the public very soon.
