The Story
The second quarter of the year saw a new top performer emerge for Sands Casino as its Las Vegas properties trumped the growth of Sands casinos in Macau. Vegas revenue rose nearly 16% to $466m thanks to gaming table drop rising 50%. Adjusted property earnings from Vegas hit $136m, the third-best quarterly performance in the company’s history. In contrast, Sands China operations in Macau reported revenue only went up 1.3% to $2.15b, while adjusted property earnings were up 2% to $765m. Overall, Sands Casino reported a Q2 revenue of $3.34b, thanks in part to the sale of Sands Bethlehem property that added $556m to Sands’ profit.
