The Story

The brother of the late Bitcoin pioneer Dave Kleiman has filed a lawsuit against Dr. Craig Wright, chief scientist of blockchain technology research and development firm nChain, for supposedly acquiring Bitcoins through illegal means.

The allegations against Wright are dubious at best.

In his complaint, Ira Kleiman alleged that the collaboration between Wright and Dave allowed them to accumulate “a vast wealth of Bitcoins from 2009 through 2013.” With Dave’s death, Wright allegedly “forged a series of contracts that purported to transfer Dave’s assets to Craig and/or companies controlled by him.” This supposedly enabled Wright to amass a stash of around 1.1m Bitcoins, of which “at least 300,000” belonged to Dave. Aside from the Bitcoins, Wright was also accused of “valuable intellectual property rights of various blockchain technologies.”

Sought for a comment on the issue on Twitter, Wright dismissed the complaint in one word: “Greed.”
