The Mets (-1.5 +145 RL, -140 ML) continue their red hot streak with game 3 of their series against the Indians (+1.5 -165 RL, +120 ML). The Mets are looking for their fifth straight win and to pull within half a game of the Cardinals with Noah Syndergaard (8-6, 3.86 ERA) on the mound. He faces rookie Aaron Civale (1-2, 1.50 ERA). I don’t expect the rookie to be able to hold back the red hot Mets, but I do expect him to be competent. This looks like it will be a masterful pitcher’s duel, so pick the Mets for the moneyline and the under (O/U 9.5).
The A’s (+1.5 -155 RL, -105 ML) are closing out their series against the Yankees (-1.5 +135 RL, -115 ML) and hoping for a sweep. Tanner Roark (7-8, 4.01 ERA) gets the start against Masahiro Tanaka (9-6, 4.56 ERA). As Roark has only faced the Yankees once, this isn’t an easy one to measure, but I think the Yankees will avoid the sweep and win big. Pick them and the over. (O/U 9.5)
The Nationals (-1.5 -130 RL, -220 ML) are hoping for an uneventful game against the Pirates (+1.5 +110 RL, +190 ML). Max Scherzer (9-5, 2.41 ERA) is getting his first start in weeks after spending some time dealing with injuries. He faces Steven Brault (3-2, 4.06) who just graduated to a starting role and has been fairly consistent. Call me crazy, but I like the Pirates here to beat up on a returning Scherzer, so pick them and the over (O/U 8.5).
