Wynn Resorts, through its Wynn Macau Ltd. subsidiary, has announced that it will offer a “winter bonus” to certain eligible employees. The bonus will be equal to a month’s salary and the decision comes on the heels of similar bonuses offered by Wynn competitors MGM China and Melco Resorts. Only three of the six operators in Macau will offer the bonus this winter, so far.
When the bonus will be issued was not mentioned, but the firm added that “nearly 96%” of its workforce will receive the payments. The company has 13,500 employees among two properties it operates in Macau – Wynn Macau on the peninsula and Wynn Palace in Cotai.
Wynn Macau, as well as Wynn Resorts, has not yet released its fourth-quarter or its full-year financial results. However, when it published its third-quarter results last November, it gave a stark outlook for the last three months of the year. This makes the link between the bonus and the second-half performance a little puzzling.
Melco Resorts, which operates the City of Dreams Macau, Studio City, Altira Macau and a string of slot machine clubs called Mocha Clubs in the city, said last week that they would be providing bonuses to eligible non-executive personnel ahead of the Chinese New Year at the beginning of February. MGM China, operator of the MGM Macau and the MGM Cotai, announced yesterday that it would offer a “discretionary bonus” for eligible non-management employees, as well.
