Premier Punt awarded Remote Casino licence in UK

Edinburgh based Premier Punt, the Daily Fantasy Sports and sportsbook operator (or “Daily Fantasy Sports-book” (DFS-B) operator, as they describe themselves), was awarded a Remote Casino licence from the UK Gambling Commission this week. This adds to their growing collection of licences which already includes pool betting and sportsbook, the latter having been awarded earlier this year.

Premier Punt awarded Remote Casino licence in UKJohn Gordon, CEO, commenting on this latest piece of news coming out of the quickly expanding Scottish company said:

“The Remote Casino licence adds another string to our bow. We have no immediate plans to incorporate casino games into our Premier Punt platform but it gives us options on stand-alone sportsbook and casino products. We are branching into B2B this year so the addition of this licence means clients have a wider scope for what features they can request in their bespoke product.

At a time where we are generating interest amongst potential investors, this licence along with our other licenses, patent pending status on our Daily Fantasy Sports-book platform and media deals all adds value to investors so we are very pleased with the award of the licence.

The 2016/17 season was successful for us as we introduced new and innovative products. In 2017/2018 we expect to introduce innovative business models that will change the industry. We will also be bringing in the new season with a fresh, new look to our site and app.”

The good news for Premier Punt comes in the same week that DFS giants FanDuel and DraftKings had their proposed merger temporarily blocked by the US Federal Trade Commission.

Gordon went onto say: “Although both FanDuel and DraftKings made their first steps into the UK market in 2016, the intended merger seems to have put that process on hold. The temporary block of the merger will probably mean that both companies will not make any significant moves before the start of next season.”
