ICE Totally Gaming 2016 Day 2 Summary

ICE Totally Gaming 2016 Day 2 Summary

The second day of ICE Totally Gaming 2016 felt even busier than the first.  Starting from 10am this morning the expo floor was busy and the crowd thickened as the day went on.  While the majority of the product reveals took place on day one, the second day of ICE featured another round of models, dancers, giveaways, promos, music, drinks, meetings and more sports celeb appearances such as Evander Holyfield with SBTech.

The OpenBet Booth is always on CalvinAyre.com‘s list of attractions to visit at ICE with a creative new theme each year thanks to OpenBet’s Olivia Gillibrand.  This year the theme was horse racing and putting the customer at the center of their business, with a booth layout mimicking a horse race atmosphere complete with a life-size horse, large screen displays for the races, a window to place bets and real cash dished out to delegates who placed winning bets via the OpenBet app.

Flexepin, a payment ecosystem live on Australian bookmakers and in emerging markets such as Nigeria, took a booth this year at ICE for the first time.  Darren Pollard, an industry consultant, demonstrated how easy it is to get cash into an online gambling mobile account by using a Flexepin voucher and Greg Lee, CCO of Flexepin, told CalvinAyre.com Flexepin provides the perfect solution for any country where cash is king as no credit cards or bank accounts are required.

eSports has been a popular topic of discussion this year at ICE, not surprising as it was a buzz word within the gambling industry throughout 2015.  Sportradar took a huge booth this year and one of the most popular products of discussion at ICE within their product portfolio was unsurprisingly eSports.

James Watson, Sportradar’s eSports Product Manager, told CalvinAyre.com operators are keen on offering eSports odds to their customers, but they are not familiar with the “new” territory.  Sportradar has a partnership with ESL and offers a superior eSports betting product to other suppliers due to the eSports industry knowledge ESL brings to the table.

India is a huge market for the gambling industry and plenty of operators are hungry to get a foothold in the region.  Today’s India Briefing was a popular ICE Seminar and focused on opportunities for operators within the market while also covering legal and regulatory updates and challenges.

We learned from Vidushpat Singhania, an India based attorney, what India considers games of skill such as rummy, poker, sport betting and fantasy sports are solid verticals to tap into at present as they fall into more of a “grey” area in terms of legislation within the country.

Our friends at All In Translations came up with yet another hilarious impersonator for their booth this year, the infamous interviewer “Ali G”.  G roamed the expo floor asking people what ICE stands for, explaining in his own words what All In Translations does as a company and generally making people laugh at his inappropriate comments and questions.  Respect.
