Gutshot Straight Hoping to Improve Upon the Dismal Runner Runner

Gutshot Straight Hoping to Improve Upon the Dismal Runner RunnerGutshot Straight is the latest poker movie to hit the silver screen but will it be more Rounders or Runner Runner?

Did Runner Runner put you off poker movies for life?

If not, then you might be a little excited to learn that a movie carrying the title Gutshot Straight has just had a private screening in Los Angeles, with a North American release date set for Sep 1, 2014.

The movie was directed by Justin Steele, who is more commonly known for his work on the TV comedy Keenan’s Crush, and it was written by Jerry Rapp, who has also penned the wonderfully titled Itsy Bitsy Spider and What to do With Your Dead Hooker.

George Eads, of CSI Investigation fame, plays the role of Jack. A guy with a gambling problem, who lives in Las Vegas casinos, loses a ton of money, gets into trouble and has to find a ton of money to get out of trouble.

Riveting I know.

vinnie-jonesThere are roles for Steven Seagal, Vinnie Jones and Tia Carrere, and as much as I love Vinnie Jones for his work in Lock Stock and Snatch you can bet your bottom dollar that a movie that rolls out this sort of old cavalry is going to be as appealing as watching Doncaster Rovers v Stockport County.

It’s also a little tell that we didn’t know the movie was being made until it was. Always a bad sign if you ask me.

But it’s not all bad news.

Tia Carrere is in it.

At least she thinks she is.

During an interview with Maximo TV she was asked to talk about her role in the movie and it was pretty obvious that she didn’t have a clue what the movie was about?

Undaunted the reporter asked Carerre what her next movie role was and Carerre told her that she had another movie planned for release but couldn’t remember the name or the release date.

Wacky baccy, too much plastic surgery or just plain Alzheimer’s?

Who knows and who the hell cares.

It’s Tia fucking Carrere.

I know I should slip a YouTube clip of the movie into the article at this point but I just can’t do it, so this will have to do instead.
