Betfred owners unveil plans for the £80m redevelopment of No.2 St Peters Square, as part of the Latz + Partner’s plans for the major overhaul of Manchester’s St Peters Square.
The Manchester Evening News have released yet another story chronicling the investment strategies of the Betfred creators Fred and Peter Done, as they announce that work will soon start on the development of an £80m tower in the center of Manchester.
The brothers Done are said to be behind the 162,000 sq. ft. renovation of No.2 St Peter’s Square project, with a Miley Cyrus-less big black wrecking ball set to start doing some damage in May.
Council Chiefs chose the German landscape architects Latz + Partner to turn Manchester’s St Peter’s Square into one of the most beautiful and trendy looking pieces of real estate in Europe, and Fred Done’s Mosley Street Ventures Limited are also part of the act.
“St Peter’s Square is undergoing considerable redevelopment and we wanted to ensure that our building is developed in line with the Square’s timetable, which is why we have taken the decision to commence work on a speculative basis.” Fred Done told the Manchester Evening News.
Done also told the MEN that the project was being overseen by Ian Simpson Architects and the design will in line with the rest of Latz + Partners plans for the square.
“Once completed No.2 St Peters Square will be one of Manchester’s most iconic buildings, and our team is currently in talks with a number of potential tenants. We are extremely proud to be connected to this project and to be producing a quality building that will be located right in the heart of Manchester City Centre.” Said Done.
The renovations are expected to take 22-months and should be ready for the beautiful British summer of 2016.
The Betfred owner has been very busy of late. His Betfred gambling empire saw turnover rise 19% to £8bn in the 12-month period ending March 31st, an exciting development that didn’t stop him raising the ire of his employees by progressing with planned wage reductions across the nation, and then he continued to plough money into his Road King ruck stop business, as well as investing in the web design and mobile app business Degree 53.
The Done brothers own two other major properties in Manchester: the Peninsula Office Building and Steam Packet House.
