Keeping the Heater Going With Jeff Hakim Audio

Keeping the Heater Going With Jeff Hakim“I have to create the heater and keep it going.”

Those are the words of Jeff “YoungSupremacy” Hakim who is coming off the back of the amazing feat of winning two Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) events within days of each other.

FTOPS Event #3: 109 Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) Rebuy and FTOPS Event #21: $215 Limit Hold’em are both on the CV of Hakim and he has taken that little payroll to Europe for a whistle stop tour that will see him get embroiled in the World Poker Tour (WPT) Cyprus and European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona and London events.

“I jumped into the PLO event and didn’t start too well, then suddenly I found myself on the final table, ran hot – of course – and ended up winning that one. The Limit Hold’em event…I think half of the people who registered did so by mistake…just like me. Once again I didn’t start well but suddenly found myself in the money and I started to build a stack. I ran hot on the final table, got the hands when I needed them, so yes it was a great few days.”

Hakim looks ready made for the TV cameras. He has this young Omar Sharif sexiness about him. The type of guy who never bothers to shave and yet somehow turns it into a sexy thing. So does Hakim enjoy his time playing in the spotlight of the live realm, or does he prefer the solitude of the online arena?

“It depends on a lot of things. Scheduling and when, or how you are running hot, also counts. When it’s FTOPS or WCOOP time you just get into a rhythm and online poker is cool. There is always something going on in live poker so you can always get your fix, but online poker is much more relaxing, and it was good to get back into it after a long WSOP schedule.”

Each time I watch Hakim play I get the impression the man has the patience of a saint. I never see him hiding behind a big stack, but he always manages to find his way into the money. It seems like turning up and getting paid is something that Hakim knows about only too well.

“I was born to play the 20bb stack. I have played with that stack more than anyone else online. Unfortunately, it’s not my plan, but live when you are supposed to be deeper and get more chips I always end up with this stack.

“You have to keep chasing the win, and eventually when if you’re there time and time again, you create your own luck and give yourself an opportunity to win the thing.”

Hakim didn’t make it through the Day 1A field but we are expecting to see him spending some of that FTOPS money on a re-entry on Day 1B.
